Certificate Types provides for flexibility when administering policy via PRISM configuration.  Consequently, when configuring certificate types there is more involved than listing certifications.  The following are affected by certificate types:

1Certification application that may be applied for (optional for certification management)

2How PRISM relates the role of a subcontractor to the certification of the subcontractor

3How PRISM relates the certification of a vendor to the goal associated with a contract

Columns

Purpose/Rule

Type

The certificate that will be part of the policy

Jurisdiction

The certifying authority of the certificate.  These are configured in the Trusted Jurisdiction configuration

Application Type

The type of certification that authenticates the certificate.  Many times there is a one-to-one association but not always.  For example, some jurisdictions have a certification application that provides three certificate (SBE, MBE, WBE)

Goal Type

The goal associated with this certificate type

Visible

Determines if the certificate type is visible to the users

In the example below the City of Emerald has two trusted jurisdictions (FDOT and Emerald Transit Department).  FDOT provides a DBE certificate that City of Emerald maps to their DBE goals.  On the other hand, Emerald Transit Department (a different organization) provides an ACDBE certificate that is mapped to City of Emerald's DBE goals.  In other words, City of Emerald gets certifications from FDOT and Emerald Transit.  Any contracts including vendors with these certifications will count towards DBE spend.

Moreover, the City of Emerald issues CBE, CSBE, EDP, LDB, and SBE certifications which all counts toward its SBE goal.
